ABOUT

Tommy Endicott is an active freelance horn player and teacher in Denver, Colorado. He currently holds the position of Principal Horn with the Longmont Symphony Orchestra, and he has performed with groups including the Denver Brass and Boulder Ballet. Tommy moved to Colorado in 2022 to pursue a Master's in Performance at the University of Denver, where he served as the Graduate Teaching Assistant for two years. Tommy’s passion for music also extends to his role as a private instructor for horn. He maintains a studio of high school students across Colorado’s front range, and he serves as the visual captionhead for the Fairview High School band program in Boulder.

Tommy received his bachelor’s degree at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, studying under Dale Clevenger and Jeff Nelsen. During this time, he frequently performed with the Indiana Wind Symphony, with which he had the pleasure of attending the 2018 conference of the International Wind Music Research Society (IGEB) in Wadgassen, Germany.

The marching arts have had a profound impact on Tommy's artistry. He was a performing member of the Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps during their 2017 and 2019 tours which culminated at the Drum Corps International World Finals. Both years, the hornline received the Jim Ott Memorial Award for Excellence in Brass Performance. Tommy's experience playing with a world-class brass ensemble has led him to pursue a bold, vivid, and sophisticated approach to the horn.

Music Through Storytelling

From a young age, Tommy was always drawn to the sound of the horn in game and movie soundtracks. The horn can be evocative of many different settings and characters, and when played well, it can have a profound dramatic effect that propels a story forward. Tommy brings these characters to life by utilizing the full expressive range of the instrument. He harnesses drama in his playing by considering what may be at stake for the characters he plays within the narrative arc of the piece.
